Sub task 2 - magazine review - decision on layout

The decision for the layout was draft two. After asking some members of our target audience what they preferred we felt that it was the best layout which would let us use our full length photograph which we took. The full length photographs are also very conventional of film noir and the symmetry of one on each page looks effective.

Sub task 2 - draft 3

Sub task 2 - draft 2

Sub task 2 - draft 1

This is the first of three drafts I am going to make for my magazine review in the format of a double page spread. I am doing this so I can create visual examples of different layouts I might use for my product. All the drafts are based on modern magazine reviews of short films.

Main Task - Casting Call Pro

As our short film had speaking in it, we needed it to be as professional as possible as the average lay person may not have the ability to put on a convincing American accent and act well. So we came to the decision to get professional actors in our film. My friend Katy Ashworth who is an actress and TV presenter was perfect for the lead female role. After asking all our friends there was no one availble to play the male protaganist Jim. I then created a casting call pro account, which is a website desighned to match actors with jobs. I emailed the following to a selection of actors:

Hi (name),
My name is Hannah and I attend Farnham College in Surrey. My group member Emily and I are currently looking for a male 20 something actor to co-star in our short film for our media coursework. It is a short film (5min) in the style of film noir and a convincing American accent will be needed. You would be acting opposite Katy Ashworth, a CBBC presenter and star of 'I Can Cook'.
It is not a paid job, however we can cover your travel expenses, to Camberley, where the filming is taking place.
Let us know if you would be interested
Kind Regards
Hannah and Emily

I then had replies from many of the actors and Emily and I chose an actor called Jonathan James because of of how he looked and his close proximity to Camberley, where we were filming.
